A well-known film performer Christian Slater was born in New York and is a son of actor Michael Hawkins and an acting agent, producer and casting executive Mary Jo Slater. Due to the fact that he was delivered in a very creative family that is closely connected to the moviemaking world, he decided to pursue a professional career in that particular path.
In order to get acting experience, he entered the Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts.
A future star began appearing on TV at a quite young age. At 8 he could already be seen in several television series as well as Broadway performances. At 12 he featured with a minor role in a film adaptation about Sherlock Holmes and four years later starred in The Legend of Billie Jean.
However, the main breakthrough in his career happened when he took part in a historical thriller called Name of the Rose of 1986. Then he could be seen in Heathers, Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves, Kuffs, Interview with the Vampire: The Vampire Chronicles, Nymphomaniac and many other TV projects.
