Bio
A gifted Irish-born film performer Nicola Coughlan was welcomed in Galway and grew up in Oranmore with two siblings. Very few people know but she made a decision to become an actress at the age of just 5 when she saw her sister performing in a school play.
Nicola first attended Scoil Mhuire primary school and then Calasanctius College. After that she entered the National University of Ireland, where she got a degree in English and Classical Civilization. In addition to that, she also studied at the Oxford School of Drama and Birmingham School of Acting.
At the very beginning of her path to stardom, Coughlan used to get multiple refusals. That’s why in order to make the ends meet, she worked as a voice actress. However, it didn’t help much and she had no choice but to return back to Ireland, where she began working as a waitress.
Things changed for better in 2016, when she was offered to play in a theatre. Soon after that she got a role in a sitcom called Derry Girls that brought her international fame. Another major success in Nicola’s career is her portraying of Penelope in Netflix television series Bridgerton.
